Articulation & phonology
Some children may have trouble producing certain sounds (like “wabbit” for “rabbit”). It’s a “how to say it” challenge. Other children may have phonological difficulties, so errors affect whole groups of sounds, like “tat” for “cat” or “poon” for “spoon.” It’s a “how sounds work together” challenge. Both are common and can be addressed with speech therapy.
