How do I know if my child may need speech therapy?

A consultation may be helpful if you have concerns about speech clarity, understanding or using language, communicating wants and needs, motor planning for speech, or social communication. The first call is a chance to share what you are noticing and discuss whether an evaluation may be appropriate.

How can I get started?

Book a free 15-minute consultation online or call 336-448-8458. During the call, we will discuss your concerns, answer questions, and talk through the next step.

Screening or evaluation: which does my child need?

A screening is a brief look at a specific area of communication. A full evaluation gathers more detailed information about your child's strengths and needs. The best option depends on your concerns and goals, which can be discussed during the consultation.

How long are treatment sessions?

Sessions typically last 25-30 minutes. Frequency is tailored to the individual needs of each child and is subject to availability.

Where are services provided?

Services may take place at the Clemmons clinic, at local preschools or daycares, or through family consultation and coaching, depending on your child's needs and scheduling availability.

Do you provide AAC device evaluations?

The Little Speech House can use an existing AAC device during therapy and support families in making it part of everyday routines. The practice does not currently provide AAC or assistive technology evaluations for obtaining devices.

Do you accept insurance?

The Little Speech House is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. Some plans may offer out-of-network benefits, and a superbill can be provided for you to submit. Visit the Billing & Rates section for details.
